The Periwinkle Foundation presents  Making A Mark, an exhibition of art and creative writing by children touched by cancer and blood disorders at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers

Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers and The Periwinkle Foundation are pleased to present the 23rd Annual Making A Mark, an exhibition of art and creative writing by children touched by cancer and blood disorders. This unique display focuses on the personal issues that surround childhood illness as expressed by the children themselves.

Making A Mark is open to children from treatment centers all over the world.  To highlight Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the artwork is exhibited at Texas Children’s Hospital which is the first stop on a journey traveling to venues throughout the country. We have been proud to display more than 200 entries annually since the first exhibit.  This year, the exhibit features over 330 pieces representing five different countries including Peru, Brazil and Poland.

The Periwinkle Foundation and Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers are so grateful for the generous contributions which make it possible to bring this extraordinary exhibition of children’s artwork to the public.  To each of you who have contributed in some way, you have our heartfelt thanks.

A special thank you is due to our panel of judges – Leslie Coots, Syd Farber, Monique Pappas, Sarah Stauder, Ron Turtzo, Kerry Youtsey, Bonnie and Shel Vedlitz – who selected this year’s Purple Ribbon artwork.  Their selections represent those pieces they felt most effectively convey a positive message about Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. In addition, the Friends of Periwinkle have selected a Friends Choice piece which will receive special recognition while on exhibit.

The Periwinkle Foundation gratefully acknowledges the following donors for their contributions to  Making A Mark, an exhibition of art and creative writing by children touched by cancer and blood disorders at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers.
