Periwinkle painted the town purple at the Takin’ It to The Streets Gala April 30, 2016 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel. The evening celebrated The Periwinkle Foundation’s expanded partnership with Texas Children’s Hospital with the Periwinkle Arts In Medicine Program. Just as art is used in the Foundation’s mission to positively change the lives of thousands of children and families challenged by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, the Takin’ It to The Streets Gala embraced the bold and bright culture of street art and our local arts community.
Judy and Chris Simon were the proud chairs for this colorful evening. The 2016 event honored Nancy Kline Cogan with the Gerson Award for her steadfast and selfless support at The Periwinkle Foundation.
As part of the celebration, Periwinkle also recognized our partnership with The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa and Valero.
Periwinkle galas are traditionally non-traditional. Prior galas have featured everything from live elephants to marching bands, guaranteeing that our guests experience a night to remember.
The Periwinkle Foundation programs ensure the children and families affected by life-threatening illnesses have the opportunity to experience a childhood, and we bring the exuberance and joy of our programs into our Periwinkle Gala each year.
