With school back in session, Camp YOLO provided teens with an experience that one camper described as “a place where I can escape and let go of all my worries for one weekend.” Hosted at Camp For All on September 20-22, The Periwinkle Foundation served 128 patients and their siblings treated at the Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers, Cardiology Center, Rheumatology Clinic, Renal Center, Allergy and Immunology Center, and Retrovirology Clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital.

Based on the beloved holiday Halloween, campers experienced the weekend from the lens of this year’s theme; YOLOWEEN. Campers were encouraged to face their fears and focus on how “boo-tiful” life is. Within just a three-day period, 61 volunteers witnessed 128 campers create relationships with their peers and bonds with their counselors. From the ropes course, to S’mores, to pumpkin chunkin – these campers were experiencing non-stop activities.

Programs like Camp YOLO are provided free of charge to all campers because of the generous support of community supporters and funders like Westport Properties & US Storage Centers. This year, their generous contribution helped to provide the transportation to ensure all 128 campers could attend Camp YOLO. Thank you, Westport Properties and US Storage Centers for helping our teens become stronger survivors!
