The Periwinkle Foundation proudly presents Iron Sommelier 2015 Presented by AutoSol, an annual wine tasting and sommelier competition held at the Houstonian Hotel where Houston’s most prestigious sommeliers compete annually for the title of Iron Sommelier.
Congratulations to our 2015 Iron Sommelier winner Evan Turner of Helen Greek Food and Wine!
First Runner up was Nathan Smith of Dolce Vita Pizzeria Entoneca.
Second Runner Up was Angie Chang of Sonoma Retail Wine Bar & Restaurant.
People’s Choice award went to Sam Governale of Fleming’s.
Best Grand Tasting Room Presentation was Adele Corrigan of 13 celsius Wine Bar.

Anniversary Reserve ($15,000) and Premier Grand Cru ($10,000) Levels
Prior Iron Sommelier winners, Sean Beck, Christian Varas and Steven McDonald, as well as Antonio Gianola will showcase hand-selected wines while David Cordúa, Executive Chef of Development at Américas and Cordúa restaurants, provides a 4 course tasting menu along with sweets from Rebecca Masson of Fluff Bake Bar.

Grand Cru ($5,000) and Connoisseur ($2,500) Levels
In a private setting, each of our 2015 competing sommeliers will showcase their knowledge of an impressive wine which they personally selected.
In addition, each 2015 underwriter will receive a magnum of Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs autographed by Hugh Davies, the wine maker.
