This week’s edition of Make It A Splendid Week invites us into the imagination of two talented artists who share about a mystical magical island and an unexpected visitor to the hospital! As we close out National Nurses Week on May 12, we share extreme gratitude for the nurses who protect us from dinosaurs (before they find out they are our friend), and who provide care, hope, and healing to so many Periwinkle children and families. Thank you for being heroes day in and day out! Today, and everyday, we celebrate and thank you!! Make It A Splendid Week!

A Special Visitor

When my dinosaur Sam came to visit me at the hospital, the people at the front door wouldn’t let him in, so he ate them. He’s Raptor Blue so he could squeeze through the doors. His head bumped the ceiling.

Oh, no! His tail got shut in the door when he got on the elevator. He opened the doors to pull in his tail. He used his claws to press number 9. He got out on the ninth floor and looked for my room. He could smell me. I said, “I’m here, Sam.”

The nurses called for help when they saw Sam. I told the nurses, “He’s my friend.”

Raptor Blue napped right next to my bed. I felt good because his nails didn’t chip at my back. We were happy to be together.
