While spending more time at home, many people have taken up the hobbies of baking and cooking! (Or at least attempting it!) From homemade bread, to new recipes, to beloved family favorites – the art of cooking and baking can be both creative and comforting.

This week’s edition of Make It a Splendid Week features Alianna’s poem, “Dear Cupcake” and Jada’s artwork, “Jada’s Creation”. What have you attempted to create in the kitchen lately!?

Dear Cupcake

Dear Cupcake,

I love your blue frosting.
It tastes just like blueberries
and a little bit of sugary.
Your bread is chocolate flavor
and tastes squishy and fluffy.
I put my lips on the frosting
and it gives me blue lipstick.
Eating you, cupcake, makes me feel crazy!
I hope I don’t get more hyper
because today at school I ate a cupcake
and did crazy dances
because it was so sugary.
I can’t wait to eat you, delicious cupcake!
Delicious and chocolatey
