Make It A Splendid Week: National Cancer Survivor Month
The month of June marks National Cancer Survivor Month, celebrating all who have fought the disease and those who are currently in treatment. This week’s edition of Make It A Splendid Week features a piece of art by a Periwinkle Long Term Survivor and a creative writing piece by an artist looking forward to ringing the bell to mark the beginning of survivorship! Make It A Splendid Week!
Ringing the Bell!
I can’t wait. I wish I could ring the bell right now, but I have to wait. I’m ringing the bell because I’m done with cancer! That feels good. My port even got cut off a long time ago.
Every single doctor will make a bridge with their arms. Two people will stand together and touch their fingers together, like a triangle. They’ll show me the way, and I’ll walk through it and find the bell. Then I’ll jump up and ring it! I saw a video of it, so that’s how I know.
