Make it a Splendid Week: Puppy Pals
This week’s edition of Make it a Splendid Week features artwork and a piece of creative writing all about sweet pups! Six year old Jhonatan’s comment on his painting is, “He enjoys coming to the hospital to play, paint and have fun.”
The Periwinkle Arts In Medicine Program at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers is an integral part of the Centers’ commitment to providing comprehensive care in a child-centered environment to meet the emotional, social, educational and medical needs of patients.
Puppy Dog Pals!
Aurora is my stuffed puppy.
–Camdyn, age 6
I’ve had her since I was four.
She has a white body, brown ears and black eyes,
and brown on her head and back.
I made her a necklace, and she likes it.
She’s an Easter dog!
I love to hug her, and she’s had lots of love.
She’s soft and cuddly, and I sleep with her.
She makes me feel happy
because she’s always happy!
I play doctor with her.
I put my name tag on one arm.
She got a shot, so I put
a bandage on her other arm
to help it heal.
But I didn’t put it on tight
because it might hurt.
I hope she feels better!

Jhonatan! I saw your art work and got so excited! Your picture looks just like my dog and favorite boy, Clifford! He is 6 years old and a big red dog! Your art made me so happy, and I’m glad I got to write to you letting you know how much I enjoyed it. Thank you!
