Periwinkle Cycle presented by White Oak Energy: A Record-Breaking Year!
On February 29, The Periwinkle Foundation utilized the extra 24 hours of Leap Day to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its longest-running fundraising event; Periwinkle Cycle presented by White Oak Energy. The event raised a record-breaking $150,000 (and counting) to further the mission of Periwinkle to positively impact the lives of children challenged by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses cared for at Texas Children’s Hospital.
Co-Chairs Bradley Mitchell and Kelley Elliott welcomed more than 150 supporters to The Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa for a family-friendly morning spin-a-thon in which some teams cared more about costumes than calories burned! Team costumes and room decorations resembled all things ’90s-related in accordance to the event’s theme, “Reboot”, an ode to the decade when the event originated. DJ Maddy Rose provided the soundtrack as The Houstonian fitness instructors motivated teams to pedal through four 30-minute heats. Guests also enjoyed activities including a silent auction, children’s games, music and a costume contest.
