Fill The Bus
A Letter from Kirbie’s Mother:
Kirbie was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma September 27, 2021. While at the hospital, we saw a lot of flyers about The Periwinkle Foundation. Kirbie’s PA, Katie, told us amazing stories about kids just like Kirbie getting to feel normal and having fun at Camp Periwinkle.
In the fall of 2022, Kirbie had a hard year at school. I reached out to Katie and asked for help. Her first words were Camp Periwinkle. I was scared but I was willing to try anything.
By July 2023, I was driving my Kirbie to summer camp…. I watched on Facebook my little girl trying new things, smiling, and laughing again in pictures. When I went to picker her up, she was completely back to herself and then some.
First thing out of her mouth, she was going back every summer. She told me about all the new friends she made and everything she got to do. What she learned that year at summer camp had followed her home.
She won’t let anything stop her from trying new things and shows everyone she is strong again and always ready for anything.
The Periwinkle Foundation and Camp Periwinkle will always be considered angels in my eyes for giving Kirbie her smiling light back.
