The month of June marks National Cancer Survivor Month, celebrating all who have fought the disease and those who are currently in treatment. This week’s edition of Make It A Splendid Week features a piece of art by a Periwinkle Long Term Survivor and a creative writing piece by an artist looking forward to ringing the bell to mark the beginning of survivorship! Ringing the Bell!

I can’t wait. I wish I could ring the bell right now, but I have to wait. I’m ringing the bell because I’m done with cancer! That feels good. My port even got cut off a long time ago.

Every single doctor will make a bridge with their arms. Two people will stand together and touch their fingers together, like a triangle. They’ll show me the way, and I’ll walk through it and find the bell. Then I’ll jump up and ring it! I saw a video of it, so that’s how I know.
