Love Poem for a Forest

In the morning, the sun rises and animals begin to wake up.
My eyes hunt for trees beginning to welcome spring.
I cherish the beauty of their colors and flowers as they bloom.
I adore the humid, fresh air after a rain.
Nothing will separate us, not even a heavy rainstorm.
Our love is stronger than an army at war.
I will never damage your beauty or destroy you.
I treasure your silence and calmness that you give us.
In the evening, I run by you feeling happy.
And I whisper, “We’re in the forest!”
And forever, I will enjoy your beauty.

-Dafne, age 11
