Make it a Splendid Week: Sweet Summertime
Often times the upcoming Memorial Day holiday, end of school celebrations, graduations, and vacation plans mark the unofficial start to summer. This year, the sunny skies and warmer temperatures mark the time in Houston. This week’s edition of Make It a Splendid Week features artwork and a piece of creative writing inspired by the beach. Whether you have plans to soak up the sun, finish up school work, or head to the beach – Make it a Splendid Week!

-Byanne, age 10
Workin’ on my tan
From sunrise to sunset
Bonfire on the beach
S’mores for everyone
Luau at nighttime
Wearing leis around my neck
Doing a hula dance off
Coconut drinks with little orange umbrellas
Pina Coladas, non-alcoholic, of course
Hunting for seashells
Sand between my toes
In Pensacola!
